Dorothy Sayers once complained that Latin was taught the hard way.  Teachers push students directly into the Classical authors.  Imagine learning English from Shakespeare.  This is how students learn Latin.  Meanwhile, the instructors generally ignore the easier, Christian Latin.  In doing so, they ignore 15 centuries of Latin!
